Lagos, March 5, 2009In its desire to endear the
Etisalat brand to the Nigerian youth and hold its own in the youth
segment of the Nigerian telecoms market, the innovative telecoms giant
recently thrilled thousands of excited youth corps members at the NYSC
camp grounds in Iyana Ipaja. The company hosted the nation’s newest crop
of youth corpers at the annual NYSC Welcome Party.
The camp grounds, lit up by the snazzy green and black colors of
Etisalat, saw the company welcoming the nation’s Batch A corp members
into the fold with an array of exciting activities.
Explaining the rationale behind Etisalat choosing to align with the
youth at the event, Olayinka Akande, Director Brands and Communications
said “We are very excited to be a part of the welcome party for youth
corps members because all of us, at one point in time, have served our
nation as youth corpers. This is one of the many ways Etisalat intends
to identify with the youths of this nation as we consistently pursue our
ideals of care, optimism, simplicity and enablement and draw our
youthful subscribers closer to this brand that is truly theirs”.
The fun night provided an opportunity for corps members to win prizes
such as phones, recharge cards, SIM packs, and other exciting gifts at
the talent hunt segment with many others also going away with Etisalat
branded prizes.
While presenting prizes to youth corpers who won during the raffle draw,
Senior Manager Events and Sponsorships, Etisalat Nigeria, Chris Adetayo
noted that Etisalat is committed to innovatively catering for the needs
of its rapidly rising youth subscriber base.
The anchor of the event, ace comedian, Omo Baba, sent guests reeling
with rib cracking jokes as the corp members numbering over 2500 were
treated to exciting performances by artists such as FreeWindz, Stainless
Orville, DJ Zeez of ‘4kasibe’ fame and Banky W.
Nigeria’s fast rising hip hop sensation, Banky W, who was billed as the
last act, worked the crowd to frenzy as he thrilled fun loving corpers
with a scintillating performance leaving his audience screaming for
more.
Apriye Banigo, one of the lucky winners of an Etisalat phone said “I’m
very grateful for this opportunity to get to know Etisalat one on one.
Etisalat has proven that they really care about us youth and are ever
willing to go all out for us. I’m hoping that very soon they will roll
out in my state (Plateau).
Etisalat recently sponsored the 4th edition of the Annual Students Trade
Fair which climaxed with a musical concert at the University of Lagos.
