Etisalat offers Facebook Updates via SMS on Easy Cliq

With the unveiling of Etisalat’s innovative Easy Cliq youth package recently in Lagos, subscribers to the new package can now update their Facebook status, upload pictures and videos and comment on their blogs all via SMS and MMS. The facebook update service allows subscribers on easy cliq provide their many friends and families with regular updates of their activities on the go without needing gprs connection or logging on to the internet. The service is simple to use, fast and also cost effective.

Giving further details at the launch of the product recently, Content/VAS Analyst, Etisalat, Osarugue Oghide explained that the opportunity to stay connected to their social networking sites is one that young people would no doubt cherish. “Facebook is a popular networking site among young people in Nigeria. Young people want to be able to share every memorable and interesting detail of their lives with their community of friends all the time on Facebook. The Facebook SMS and MMS service allows them to stay connected all the time simply by sending an SMS or an MMS to a short code that immediately updates their facebook page.”

Osarugue explained that the facebook service is however just one of the many services available on the newly introduced easy cliq, “There are other innovative benefits in the package and they can be broadly categorized into call, text and browsing benefits. With call services, our subscribers can make calls within the Easy Cliq community for as low as 25k per second, which is currently the cheapest call tariff to the widest community members of GSM operators in Nigeria. For calls made to non Easy Cliq numbers, the subscriber is charged as low as 40k per second. We also have bonus on incoming calls where the subscriber gets free airtime for receiving calls on their mobile phone.

“Young people on our network can also make Free Midnight Calls everyday between 12.30am and 4.30am as long as they have recharged with a minimum of N100 within the week and with Talk ‘n’ share, Easy Cliq subscribers can split the cost of the call 50/50 with the person receiving the call”.

Other benefits include text services where subscribers can enjoy unlimited SMS as they will get a bonus SMS for every SMS sent and charged to their main account and One Cliq One Tune which allows subscribers confirm if their friends are on the Easy Cliq package free of charge.

Browsing benefits available on easy cliq include 10 free MMS and 3MB of free browsing every month, free Cliq tune to entertain callers when an Easy Cliq number is dialed and unlimited access to download free tunes, wall papers and screen savers from the easy cliq website.

To get on board and begin enjoying the many benefits on easy cliq, a new subscriber can purchase a pack of four Easy Cliq SIMs or buy an individual SIM from any Etisalat shop or from any of the hundreds of retail outlets and street vendors across Nigeria. Existing subscribers on the Etisalat network can migrate from Easy Starter to Easy Cliq by dialing *244*1# or by calling 244 from their Etisalat line. They can also call 200 from their Etisalat lines to speak to a customer service personnel and get further information. Subscribers from other networks can obtain further information about easy cliq by dialling 0809 000 0200. First migration from easy starter to easy cliq is free until 8 July 2009.
