Etisalat CEO Highlights Competitive Imperative at Telecoms Conference

Lagos June 18, 2009.  Etisalat Nigeria’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Steven Evans was the lead speaker at this year’s edition of the West and Central Africa Conference held at the International Conference Centre in Abuja from Wednesday June 18 to Thursday June 19, 2009

Mr. Evans made a presentation on the topic “Enhancing Competition - Structural Barriers and Regulatory versus Market Solutions” at the two-day gathering of telecommunication decision makers, regulators and other stakeholders. CEO of other telecommunication companies also joined Evans in the discourse that stimulated intellectual appraisal of the issues present within the telecommunication industry in the West and Central Africa region.

The sixth edition of the largest telecommunication conference in Africa organized by Informa Telecom and Media brought together high-powered government delegates, Africa’s best telecom professionals in the West and Central Africa region. With about 300 companies from 40 countries attended the conference, Nigeria’s largest telecom forum with participation across the English and French speaking countries of West and Central Africa had over 1500 telecoms decision makers and over 80 exhibitors participating.

Participants attended from Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo (Brazzaville), DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Sao Tome & Principe, Senegal Sierra Leone and Togo.
