Lagos March 3, 2011: Another dreaded Thursday it was, a time to send someone packing from the Nigerian Idol show. With their hearts in their mouths, the 5 contestants left on the Nigerian Idol stood in front of the judges with bated breaths to know their fate.

But first, the audience was treated to an exciting performance from guest artiste May7ven, the daughter of legendary footballer, Segun Odegbami who thrilled the audience with her funky and breathtaking dance steps. Then host, Anis confirmed Bibi safe. The remaining four had to wait for the voters verdict. Anis called out the names of the contestants except Glory. That was when it dawned on all that Glory was indeed going home. When asked to say her parting words, she said, ‘I thank everyone who voted for me because everytime you voted for me, you pushed me closer to my dream. Even though I am out of the show, I am a star and I rock.’ She then sang Sir Victor Uwaifo’s classic song, ‘Joromi’ to the delight of the audience.

For the rest of the contestants, Glory’s eviction is painful and shocking because as Naomi put it,’ this week you see someone voted as the highest and next week, the person is out. The voting audience is very unpredictable. I’m so happy I scaled through again this week. It’s just God’s grace. I’m determined to push this thing to the end.’

Bibi on her part says, ‘At this point, I don’t think its based on talent or how good you are. It’s just the grace of God.’ She also thanked Etisalat the sponsors of Nigerian Idol because they had given her a platform to pursue a career in music.

According to Etisalat's Chief Commercial Officer, Wael Ammar, "It is always difficult to accept the exit of some of these contestants who have demonstrated immense talent since the commencement of the show. But the reality is that only one Idol will emerge."

The Nigerian Idol show is gradually coming to a close and Nigeria's first music Idol will emerge at a grand finale event at the end of March 2011. The first ever Nigerian Idol will walk home with a cash prize of 7.5 million naira and a Sony BMG recording contract worth N5Million, a Samsung Galaxy Tab, a blackberry phone from Etisalat with one year subscription and a number of other mouthwatering gifts. The 1st runner up will go home with N1, 500, 000 as well as other exciting prizes while the 2nd runner up will receive a cash of N1, 000, 000. Everyone of the other top ten finalists is also assured very exciting prizes.
