1. What is the Etisalat DotMe?

Etisalat DotMe is a new SMS based message board for on-the-go information sharing. You can post information instantly via sms from your mobile phone, and your contacts can pull information posted via sms on demand without directly contacting you by phone calls or SMS.

2. Who is a dotter?

Any subscriber on the etisalat network that posts his/her status.

3. Who is a follower?

Anyone that enquires about what’s posted on a Dotter’s bulletin board. Followers can be on any network, anywhere in the world.

4. What can Etisalat DotMe be used for?

DotMe can be used;
- as a personal communication tool, dotme helps you to stay connected easily with all your contacts
- as a mobile marketing tool, dotme can help businesses stay connected to every customer that has a mobile phone
- as a social networking tool; a Dotter can post any information he/ she wishes to share with others

5. Do I need the internet and/or Smartphone to dot/follow?

No internet or smart phone is needed. Since the service is SMS based all you need is a phone that can send and receive sms

6. How do I send a dot?

Compose a text message of not more than 140 characters and send to 8900 e.g am in a meeting, I can’t answer any calls. I will be available from 3pm

7. How do I check how many people have viewed my message?

Send a question mark symbol i.e. ? or the word INFO to 8900 and you will immediately receive an SMS on how many people have viewed your message.

8. How do I cancel or change my post?

To cancel your dot just send a dot (.) to 8900 or the word STOP to 8900, and it will cancel the old post automatically. You can post a new message anytime.

9. How do I follow a dotter?

To follow a Dotter, simply text a dot (.) to his/ her Etisalat phone number. You will receive an SMS with the latest message the Dotter has posted. A follower can view the dotter’s status from anywhere in the world.

10. How much will I be charged?

To post a dot costs N1. To follow a dotter is N1 for Etisalat subscribers, while for all other networks, usual SMS rates applies

11. How do I get more information on how to use the Etisalat DotMe service?

Simply send the word HELP to 8900 and you will receive an SMS educating you on how to use DotMe.
