Ring Back Tune FAQs

1. What are Ringback Tunes (RBT)?

Ringback Tunes is a personalization service, which replaces the standard ringTune for your friends and family to enjoy.

2. How do I purchase a Ringback Tune?

Ringback Tunes may be purchased by dialling 251 from your Etisalat line. You would be able to activate the Ring Back Tune service before purchasing your preferred tune, by following the voice prompts.

The downloaded Ring Back Tune becomes the default tune everyone who calls you hears, before you answer the call. However, with Etisalat Ring Back Tune service you have the option of setting tunes for specific persons or group of people.

3. How do I set a Ringback Tune for a friend?

After dialling 251 and activating the Ring Back Tune on your Etisalat line, you would then be able to set different Ring Back Tunes from our catalogue, for up to 10 of your friends.

Simply follow the voice prompt from “manage your personal library” to “set Ring Back Tune”, where you would be able to select the option of setting a tune for specific persons.
How do I set a Ringback Tune for a group of people?
From “manage your personal library”, you would have the option of setting up groups of up to 10 people, by selecting “manage your groups”, after which you could assign specific Ring Back Tunes for each group through the “manage your personal library” function.

Can I use the normal ringing tune during work hours, but use a fun Ringback Tune after-hours?
Yes, the Time Of Day functionality can be used to specify a unique Ringback Tune to be played during a specific time period. The default Ringback Tune will be played during all other times. You can also choose a fun Ringback Tune as your default Ringback Tune.

4. What kinds of Ringback Tunes are available?

Currently, Ringback Tunes are offered for the following categories: Nigeria, African, and International. We also have Special Recommendations, and Top 10 tunes.

The tunes are collated from various Music genres including : Rap/Hip Hop, Pop, Rock, R&B, Alternative, Metal, Classic Rock, Soundtracks & Themes, Country, Voice Tunes, Dance, Electronic, Folk, 60's, 70's, 80's, Oldies, Blues, Jazz, Inspirational, World, Latin, Holiday, Sports, and Personalised.

5. Am I charged when RBT activation is not successful?

No. If your activation fails you will not be charged. You will only be charged N50 when your activation is successful.

6. Do I get any free RBT after activation?

Yes. The 0809ja RBT will be your default RBT pending when you decide to download any other RBT of your choice.

7. Do I lose the 0809ja Tune after downloading any other Tune?

No. The 0809ja tune will still remain in your library. If you download any other tune and it expires, you will still have the 0809ja tune as your default tune, as long as you are still on the RBT system.

8. What if my RBT service is accidentally deactivated and I have to reactivate only a few days after, will I be charged again?

Your initial N50 activation charge is valid for 30 days after which you will be charged N50 every subsequent 30 days for monthly rental. If your RBT service is accidentally on intentionally deactivated within 30 days of activation and you reactivate within that same period, you will not be charged the N50 activation fee.

9. What if I download a Tune by SMS, will I be charged for the tune and SMS?

No, you will only be charged for the Tune download which is N50

10. What if I do not have up to N50 airtime when my tune renewal is due?

You will get a notification 3 days before the charge is deducted to remind you, so you can recharge if need be, to continue to enjoy the tune. However if you do not have enough airtime, the tune will be deleted from your library and the 0809ja tune is restored as your default tune. You can then download again whenever you have airtime.

11. Is there a rental charge? How much is it?

This is a N50 charge deducted every 30 days after activation. It is charged whether or not you download any tune into your library, however, you will always have the 0809ja tune.

12. What if I do not have up to N50 airtime when my monthly rental is due?

You will get a notification 3 days before the charge is deducted to remind you, so you can recharge if need be to continue to enjoy the services. However if you do not have enough airtime, the system retries every 24hrs for the next 5 days after which it deactivates you; and then you will have to reactivate (N50 activation charge will be deducted) whenever you recharge after then.

13. What if I still have tunes in my library when the system deactivates me?

Your tunes will still be in your library, as it is valid for 30 days, even though you won’t be able to enjoy the service until you reactivate. So, if you reactivate and your tunes have not expired, you will still have them in your library until they expire or are renewed.

14. Will I be charged for deactivating the RBT?

No. Deactivation of the RBT service if FREE.
