Etisalat DotMe is a new SMS-based Message board service which allows customers share information and stay connected with their contacts while on the go.

You can instantly publish information or status updates via SMS from your mobile phone at anytime and friends and family can view your posted information via SMS. The service is entirely based on SMS so having access to the Internet or a smart phone is not necessary.

What is a Dot? The status message posted to the short code 8900 via SMS  
Who is a Dotter? Any Etisalat subscriber that posts a message to the short code 8900
Who can follow a Dotter? Any subscriber on any network in the world that wants to access information posted by a Dotter. 

GETTING STARTED
Getting started is easy and no registration is required.  It’s as simple as sending a text.

Dotting (Posting messages on your message board)
To activate the service compose a text message with whatever status you want to post and send it to 8900. 
For example:

• I’m out of town on holiday for the next two weeks you can reach me by email
• Send to the short code 8900

You will receive a confirmation message that your post was successful and the message is active for the next 30 days. 
 Dotters can post any message and change their status as many times as they want. All status messages must not be over 140 characters.

Examples of messages you can share with etisalat DotMe are;

1. Personal Status:  I’m on vacation in the UK. You can reach by email
2. News:  Bad traffic on the bridge due to broken down truck. Use alternative route
3. General Information: 50% off selected items at the shop only today.
4. Information updates: the football match will hold on Saturday, 5PM at the sports field.

To cancel your post just send a dot (.) to 8900 or the word STOP to 8900 and your active status will be removed or update it with a new message.

Following a Dotter
Following a Dotter is even easier!  To follow a dotter, simply send a text with a dot i.e “.” to the dotter’s etisalat mobile phone number.  You will receive an SMS immediately with the latest status they have posted. 

e.g.  Text . to 0809 809-9000

Anyone, on any network, anywhere in the world who has your contact number can check the status on your message board via SMS whenever they need to and without having to directly contact you

Tariffs

• Dotters will be charged N1 to post a message
• Etisalat subscribers will be charged N1 to follow a Dotter,
• Normal SMS rates will apply for subscribers on all other networks to follow a Dotter.
